The Sacramento Comedy Spot bills itself as the city's "only alternative comedy club." The club's lineup includes improv and sketch comedy shows, as well as stand-up performers. The club offers a variety of classes to teach beginning and more experienced comedians the craft of comedy. In addition to learning how to write and perform material, students learn about developing a stage presence, crowd control techniques and performance etiquette. Open mic nights, called "Scramble" nights, allow anyone to test out material. The club doesn't have an age limit for spectators, but shows are considered to contain PG13 material.
