Located in a full-service restaurant and bar, the Houston Improv Club has nightly shows featuring a variety of professional comedians. The club also has an open mic night on Wednesday evenings that it calls the "New Faces of Comedy.'' This show is for both professionals and amateurs and starts at 8 p.m. There is a two-drink minimum for the regular shows and no drink limit on the open mic nights. There are two shows on most evenings, including a dinner show where the patrons are seated at tables near the stage. Shows can be found at this club nearly every night except Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Third Coast Comedy's Theater of Life has shows featuring professional comedians on various nights. It also has interactive comedy shows on Friday and Saturday nights in which members of the audience are invited on stage to take part in PG-rated comedy improv scenes. The Third Coast Theater is a large establishment with 1,400 feet of space. This makes it ideal for group events such as weddings, parties and birthday celebrations. Another feature is the fact patrons can rent the club to stage their own comedy shows. The theater also hosts courses and workshops to help people become comedians.

Many of the biggest names in comedy have appeared at the Laff Stop Comedy Club, which stages shows every Friday and Saturday night as well as most Sundays and some Thursdays. The Laff Stop Comedy Club also has an open mic show on Wednesdays in which amateurs can take the stage and there is no charge to get in. This popular club holds two shows each Friday and Saturday evening that start at 8 and 10:30 p.m. On selected Thursdays and Sundays, the club also occasionally holds fund raising and customer appreciation shows.
