Philadelphia Comedy Clubs

Philadelphia is a city steeped in history. The City of Brotherly Love's attractions include Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell Center and the National Constitution Center. The Pennsylvania city, however, doesn't just offer serious things to do. It has several stand-up comedy clubs to lighten your day. Some of the clubs also offer classes to help develop the next big star.
  1. Comedy Cabaret

    • The Comedy Cabaret has six locations in the Philadelphia area, including a club in the northeastern part of the city at the Ramada Inn. It attracts national touring comedians, as well as local favorites to its shows on Friday and Saturday night. The comedians who have performed include Kevin James, Jay Leno and Ray Romano. The Comedy Cabaret offers amateurs an open stage night every Wednesday. It also has comedy classes that teach not only how to write jokes, but how to market yourself and get booked for shows. The club in Philadelphia is 18 and over, and serves drinks but not food.

    Helium Comedy Club

    • The Helium Comedy Club showcases a range of comedians in its three-act shows held each week from Wednesday to Saturday. Each show has an opener, a feature comic and a headliner who's been on national television, according to the club. Comedians who have performed include Jeff Garlin, Jay Mohr, Norm MacDonald and Paul Mooney. Fledgling comedians can attend open mic night every Tuesday and take classes at the Philadelphia Comedy Academy. The monthly workshop teaches the craft of stand-up comedy. The club is 21 and over. However, people between 18 and 20 can come in with a parent or legal guardian. There is a two-item minimum from the menu and drink list. The club serves appetizers, salads, individual pizzas, Panini sandwiches and desserts.

    Laff House Comedy Club

    • Laff House Comedy Club attracts well known comedians like Tommy Davidson, Paul Mooney and Donnell Rawlings. The club has shows Wednesday through Saturday, including an open mic night on the last Wednesday of every month. Laff House is an 18 and over club, and does not have a drink minimum. The club's menu includes chicken tenders, French fries, sandwiches and wings.
