Charlie Daniels was scheduled to appear in concert at the Anderson Music Hall in Hiawassee in 2011. Daniels is well-known in country music circles for his contributions over the years. His biggest hit is "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." The Charlie Daniels Band also was scheduled to appear at the Cumming Country Fair and Festival.
The Blairsville Bluegrass Festival is another annual country music event that takes place in North Georgia. There are stage performances in Blairsville City Hall, the Mountain Life Museum, the Union County Civic Center and the County Historical Courthouse. In addition to concerts by a number of bluegrass artists, there are workshops in town for sound recording, for the latest technology and for different instruments. Local organizations cover the catering and there are displays from local craftsmen.
The Georgia Mountain Fair takes place at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee in July. In 2011, country artists scheduled to appear included the Oconee River Boys, the Country River Band and Roy Clark, Irons in the Fire, Larkin Poe, 18 South and the Waybacks. On Bluegrass Day, Little Roy Lewis & Elizabeth (Lizzy) Long and Dailey & Vincent were scheduled to appear. The festival was set to wind up with Jim Wood and The Georgia Mountain Fair Band and Pam Tillis.
The Georgia Mountain Fall Festival is held at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee. Entertainers scheduled to appear in 2011 included Jim Wood and The Georgia Mountain Fair Band, John Anderson, Ricky Skaggs, Redhead Express, Steven Phillips & Midnight Express and The Bluegrass Alliance with special guest Quebe Sisters Band. The last two days of the festival incorporate the annual Fiddlers' Convention, with a number of competitions for different instruments and techniques.
