Arizona's Fall Frenzy has seen performances from the likes of The B-52s, Fall Out Boy and Blink 182. The pop festival opens every year in September, and the music leans towards the rock style of popular music. Outlets selling band T-shirts and other pop paraphernalia sit side-by-side with food and drink retailers and other exhibits. The festival takes place in Tempe City's 25-acre Tempe Beach Park beside Town Lake. As a guide to cost, tickets for the 2010 event were priced between $55 and $65 depending on the day of attendance.
Arizona Musicfest runs from the end of January to the end of February each year. Hosted by the town of Carefree for more than 20 years, the festival features music from jazz to classical and is influenced by the classics from the Broadway musical era. Conductor Robert Moody leads the Festival Orchestra and Chorus and many guest artists pay tribute to the jazz greats. Classical music enthusiasts have the chance to enjoy chamber music, string quartets and piano concertos. The festival is held at venues across the city, with free valet parking available at all sites. Ticket prices vary between $35 and $45 for each event in 2011.
Arizona University showcases the musical talent of its students and invites a host of internationally renowned musicians to perform at its annual series of concerts and music workshops. Opera, jazz and classical music fans can enjoy hundreds of events throughout the year. Each year has a different theme upon which the performances are inspired. Many of the performances are held on campus or in local theaters and are free or low cost.
Arizona's capital city, Phoenix, plays host to the McDowell Mountain Music Festival at the end of April each year. Since 2004, the event has donated all proceeds to local children's charities. The event is family-friendly; parents are encouraged to bring their children along to enjoy the fun. Local and international artists share the stage, playing music that is an eclectic mix of blues, folk, funk and world music. A three-day ticket costs between $100 and $130 dollars for the 2011 festival.
