The Cowboys & Cowboys Sky Ranch Gala, held each year in early spring, brings football (Dallas Cowboys) and rodeo champs (actual cowboys) together to support Sky Ranch. That Dallas-based organization offers summer camps for kids, family retreats and outreach ministries. The event includes dinner -- with a western theme, of course -- a silent auction and entertainment.
The annual symposium, "Woman, Thou Art Loosed," which takes place each October, is based on a book by the Rev. T.D. Jakes, pastor of The Potter's House in Dallas, a 30,000-member church that's one of the 10 biggest in the country. The symposium offers women ways to improve their work, home and faith lives.
The Arlington-based amusement park offers the annual One Voice Christian concert series every summer. Headliners who have appeared include Skillet, The Afters, Newsboys and Pillar. Six Flags also schedules a Christian Youth Weekend in April. It also features performances by popular Christian bands.
More than 2,500 fans of alternative Christian acts such as RED, Pillar and Decyfer Down gathered at the Texas Motor Speedway in August 2010 for the first-ever Forty Fest. Besides the bands, the all-day event, which sponsors are making an annual thing, includes food, a hip-hop stage and a vendor tent.
