British Columbia's biggest music showcase includes almost 2,000 musicians and 400 concerts in 40 venues. More than 150 of the concerts are free. Vancouver comes to life for 10 days in late June with jazz, funk, Latin, fusion, blues, electronica and world music. Half a million music lovers fill city parks, plazas, neighborhood streets, concert halls and clubs every year to share the event.

More than 30 years of history, fabulous musicians from around the world and the beach setting combine to make the annual event a sellout. Four stages means four choices for setting up your blanket or chair. An international food court keeps you stuffed with Mediterranean, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Polish and French cuisines. It's kid-friendly, too, with a Little Folks Village set up as a festival within a festival.

Attend a free lecture to help you interpret what you hear before each performance. Early Music Vancouver's aim is to encourage an appreciation and understanding of music in its historical context. They believe it's better to understand music of any period performed traditionally on the appropriate instruments.
