Comedy Clubs in North Texas

If laughter is the best medicine, then North Texas has just the proper dosage. From Addison to Tyler, quite a few comedy clubs offer opportunities to see popular comedians as well as those on the rise.

  1. Addison

    • Improv in Addison bills itself as "America's Original Comedy Showcase and Restaurant" and is one of the hosts of the annual Funniest Comic in Texas. It also features bigger-name acts, including George Lopez and Richard Lewis. The venue also offers everything from french fries to prime rib to fried bananas Foster bites or chocolate balls---and defensive driving schools.

    Arlington

    • Located in a strip shopping center, Hyena's Comedy Club offers a variety of comedians, including Latino comedy, and a full menu. Open mic night takes place on Tuesdays, and billed performers take the stage on weekends. The club also offers comedic defensive driving classes. North Texas has several Hyena's clubs, which have featured such comedians as Ron White, Tommy Chong and Lewis Black.

    Dallas

    • Established by two local female comedians, Comedy Sportz in Dallas is located in the West End Marketplace in Dallas' arts district. While it does not offer a full menu, the club lies near numerous restaurants, including Hoffbrau Steakhouse, Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse and Dick's Last Resort. Other Dallas comedy clubs include another Hyena's Comedy Club, which holds open mic night on Wednesdays, and the Backdoor Comedy Club, where open mic night takes place on Thursdays.
