Comedy Clubs in North Carolina

North Carolina is the 10th-most-populated state in the U.S., with 9.3 million people. Residents have plenty of things to do, including outdoor activities on the Appalachian Trail, watching Duke and the University of North Carolina in big-time college basketball and attending the RiverRun International Film Festival. Fans of comedy can enjoy a handful of stand-up and improv clubs in the Tar Heel state.
  1. Goodnight's Comedy Club

    • Goodnight's Comedy Club has attracted the biggest names through the years, including Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Robin Williams. The club is attached to two restaurants, the Old Bar restaurant and bar and the more upscale Grille at Goodnight's. Dining patrons get the best seats at comedy shows, and the club has special deals for a meal and a show. Performances are for patrons 21 and over, unless a minor is with a parent or guardian.

    The Idiot Box

    • Audience members play a role at the Idiot Box. Spectators recommend scenes for the comedians to perform during the weekend improv shows--every show is different. The Saturday 8 p.m. show is designed to be family-friendly, with clean language and actions. The other performances might not be appropriate for children. Alcohol is served for people over 21. New comedians can take three levels of improv comedy classes at the club and attend open mic night the last Thursday of every month.
