How to Troubleshoot Pro Tools Digi 001

The Pro Tools Digi 001 card and software are a hardware and software package that allows users to record music onto their computers. If you are using the Digi 001 software and hardware there are several troubleshooting issues that you can check over before you take the unit back to the store you purchased it from. Checking the connection of the PCI card, the Apple configuration, and the Windows 98 configuration can save you time.

  1. Troubleshooting the Card

      Open your computer and locate the Digi 001 PCI card. This should be installed in the PCI slot on your motherboard. The PCI slot will be labeled as "PCI" on the board. Make sure that the PCI card is installed properly. The PCI card should be snug in the PCI slot.

      Check the PCI cable from the back of the Digi 001 connection port on your computer to the connection at the bottom of your Digit 001 box.

      Restart your computer to enter the software.

    Troubleshooting Mac Configurations

      Double click on the Digi 001 software icon on your Apple computer to load the software. Click on the "Memory Control Panel" icon. Make sure that your Virtual Memory is unchecked. Set the "Ram Disk" to the "Off" position.

      Set the "Disk Cache" to 512K from the menu on the screen. Set the "Energy Saver Control Panel" to the "Never" position in the "inactive" menu. Click on the "Smooth All Fonts On Screen" in the "Fonts" tab.

      Click on the "Finder" menu on your Apple computer's desktop. Click on the "System Preferences" menu and then set the colors to 246 colors in the "Monitors & Sound Control Panel."

    Troubleshooting Windows 98 Configurations

      Turn on your Windows 98 computer and enter the "BIOS" screen from the instructions on the screen.

      Go to the "BIOS Setup" menu and navigate to the "PCI" menu with your arrow keys. Set the PCI Parity to the disabled position. Click the "Save and Exit" button to boot the computer.

      Allow the computer to boot and then right click the "My Computer" icon. Choose the "Properties" option from the menu. Click on the "Device Manager" tab in the menu and then click on your "CD-ROM" from the devices. Click on the "Settings" tab.

      Uncheck the option fro the "Auto Insert Notification" and then click the "Ok" button. Double click on your "IDE Hard Drive" from the menu and select the "Settings" tab. Click on the "DMA option" and then click the "OK" button.

      Load your Digi 001 software without running other Windows programs.
