Digi 001 Pro Tools is a DAW platform for Microsoft Windows and MAC OS X operating systems developed by Digidesign. Digi 001 Pro Tools enables the recording and editing of film scoring, music production and film and television post-production.
Digi 001 Pro Tools functions can be controlled via the MIDI edit interface. MIDI, or Musical Instrumental Digital Interface, is an industry protocol, or set of standards or guidelines, that enables computers and equipment such as sound cards, and electronic musical instruments like synthesizers, to communicate. The Digi 001 Pro Tools MIDI interface enables users to edit audio and video tracks while viewing a graphical representation of the information that's imported or recorded.
Users can process audio and video effects via the use of plug-ins, or sets of software components that add functionality to a larger application. Real-Time AudioSuite (RTAS) is an audio plug-in specifically designed by Digidesign for Pro Tools versions such as Digi 001 Pro Tools. RTAS plug-ins use the CPU (central processing unit) of the host computer as the main supply of processing power.
