How to Use a Korg D1200

The Korg D1200 is a twelve-track digital multi-track recorder. It records at 24-bit resolution. Twelve tracks can be recorded, and four tracks can be recorded simultaneously. By using virtual tracks up to 96 tracks can be recorded. It also features XLR connectors, phantom power, analog guitar input, analog inputs and digital connectors. The Korg D1200 includes a built-in 16 channel, four-bus mixer with 100 scene memories. It also features midi out and USB connectors.

Instructions

  1. Using the D1200

    • 1

      Connect a guitar or bass to the "GUITAR IN" jack. Adjust the INPUT 1 "TRIM" control to zero. Connect headphones to the "PHONES" jack. Connect the included power supply to the "DC-IN" jack. Set the "MASTER" fader to zero.

      Press the "POWER" key to turn on power to the unit. Press the "SONG" key to go to the SelSong page. Use the "CURSOR" keys to select the New option and press "ENTER."

      Select bit depth, number of tracks and mixer settings for the newly-created song by using the SongType and MixerSetting options on the screen. Press "ENTER" when satisfied with the settings. Press the "YES/OK" key, which creates an empty new song called "NEWSONG."

      Press "MODELING" and select "Guitar" from the choices, and press "ENTER." Adjust the input level while playing. Press the right arrow key and press "ENTER." Select the PreFaderLev option and press "ENTER." Press "YES/OK." Adjust the "INPUT 1 TRIM" knob while playing to set the input level.

      Slide the "CHANNEL 1" and "CHANNEL 2" faders to zero, or unity gain. Press the "MODELING" key after selecting desired sounds.

      Press the "METER/TRACK VIEW" key, select the right arrow key, and press "ENTER." Select the "TrkView1-6" option and press "ENTER." Press "YES/OK." Press "REC" to enter recording standby mode.

      Press "PLAY" to begin recording. Press "STOP" when finished recording. Press the "TRACK STATUS" keys for tracks "1" and "2" to enable play status. Hold down "STOP" and "REW" simultaneously to return to zero. Press "PLAY" to begin playback and hear the new recording.
