How to Use a Boss Br-532

The Boss BR-532 is a portable digital multi-track recorder designed for ease of use even if the user has no prior experience with digital recording. It can be powered by a Boss AC adapter or six AAA dry-cell batteries. The BR 532 features a built-in microphone. It includes two built-in multi-effect processors, allows virtual recording onto 32 "V tracks" and can perform all recording functions entirely in the digital realm. Other features include a built-in tuner and a phrase trainer for learning difficult passages of music.

  1. Recording with the BR-532

    • 1

      Connect headphones, instrument or microphone and AC adapter. Make certain the volume on your instrument and the "MASTER" fader on the BR-532 are set to zero. Insert the SmartMedia card so the surface without gold contacts faces upward. Apply power to the BR-532.

      Format the memory card. Press "UTILITY." Use the "PARAMETER" keys to move the cursor in the display to "INI." Press "ENTER." Use the "PARAMETER" keys to move the cursor in the display to "CRD." Press "ENTER" again. Press "ENTER" yet again when "INITIALIZE CARD Format" appears in the display. Press "ENTER" again when the display changes to "INITIALIZE CARD Are you sure?"

      Select a new song. Press "UTILITY." Use the "PARAMETER" keys to move the cursor in the display to "NEW." Press "ENTER." Turn the "TIME/VALUE" dial to select the type of date the song will use for recording. Press "ENTER" twice.

      Record a new song. Switch the "INPUT/SELECT" switch to match the instrument you'll be using. Select track one to record by pressing "1." Press "REC." Press "PLAY" to begin recording on track one. Press "STOP" when finished recording. Press "REWIND" to return to the beginning. Press "1" to disable recording on track one. Press "PLAY" to listen to the new track.
