Turn the "Trim" knob next to "Input 1" to the minimum volume. Connect your guitar/bass to the instrument input jack using a 1/4-inch jack lead. Plug your headphones into the "Headphones" jack.
Use the provided AC/DC plug to the "DC In" jack, connect the other end to a power source. Set the master fader to the right position and press the "Power" button to turn on the device.
Press the "Song" button, use the cursor keys to select "New" -- this opens the "MakeNewSong" dialog box.
Adjust the bit depth/number of tracks, the mix setting and select "Ok." Press the "Modelling" key and select "Guitar" or "Bass" depending on what instrument you're using.
Press the "Meter/Track View" key to check the input level. Select the play icon and press the "Enter" key, select "PreFaderLev," select "Ok," press the "Enter" and then the "Yes/Ok" key.
Play your instrument, watch the Ch1 + 2 meters and adjust the input 1 "Trim" level knob. The idea is to turn the trim knob as high as possible without causing the CLP indicator to light up when you play.
Set the Channel 1 + 2 faders to "0 dB." Access the "Input/Output/Solo" "Monitor" tab. Select "MasterLR" and press the "Enter" key. Play your instrument as you slowly raise the master fader. Ensure that your instrument can be heard through the headphones.
Press the "Modelling" key to return to the modelling page, adjust the knobs as you play your instrument until you get the sound you want.
Press the "Rhythm" key if you wish to enable a click track. This will help you to keep in time while recording. Turn the "Rhythm" button on, raise the master fader until you can hear the click track. Select "Tempo" and use the "Value" dial to increase/decrease the value. Repeat this for "Beat, Vol and SelRhythm."
Press the "Meter/Track view" key, select the play icon and press the "Enter" key. Select "TrkView1-6," press the "Enter" key followed by the "Yes/Ok" key.
Press the record key to enter the record ready mode -- the "Rec" and "Play" LEDs will begin to flash. When you are ready to record, press "Play" and start playing your instrument. Once you're finished, press to stop key.
Press the track 1 and 2 "Track Status" keys to set them to play. While holding the "Stop" key, press "Rew" to move to the beginning of the song, then press "Play" to begin playback.
