How to Record on the Korg D1600

The Korg D1600 is a portable recording console designed for musicians, sound engineers and music producers. The D1600 can record up to eight simultaneous tracks. The unit also includes pre-recorded percussion loops that you can insert into your recordings. You record on the D1600 by first connecting your sound sources to designated inputs on the device and then adjusting a few system settings with an LCD menu. You can record audio within 10 minutes of starting.

      Connect your audio input sources to the D1600. The D1600 contains eight 1/4-inch audio inputs. Insert a 1/4-inch audio cable into an "Audio In" jack on the back of the unit. Each audio input lines up with a track number. Remember which number tracks have sound inputs on them. Insert the other end of cable into the 1/4-inch output jack on your sound source. The source can be a microphone, guitar, keyboard or any device that contains a 1/4-inch audio output.

      Continue inserting audio cables into different inputs on the unit for each sound source you want to record.

      Press the green buttons on each track with an audio input source. The buttons will turn orange when you press them.

      Balance the audio levels for each recorded track. Press the "Track View" key on the right half of the D1600. Select the "Play" button and then use the directional arrows to scroll down to the "PreFdr" option. Press the "Enter" button. This will set all track recordings at the same sound level.

      Press each orange button once more. The buttons will turn red to signify they are ready for recording.

      Press the "Play" button to start recording the tracks. Press the "Stop" button to end the recording.
