Open Logic Pro by clicking on the icon on your Apple computer's desktop screen.
Click on the "File" menu in the upper-left corner of Logic Pro's screen. Select the "New Track" option from the drop-down menu. Enter the number of tracks you want to create in the text box provided. Click on "Software Instrument." Select the appropriate input and output settings in provided drop-down menus. Click on the "Create" button.
Single-click the "Mixer" button in the lower-left corner of the screen. This will open the mixer window, which essentially resembles an audio mixing console.
Locate the first track's channel strip. This is located on the far-left section of the screen and features a virtual volume and panning knob. Click and hold on one of the blank gray buttons situated in the channel strip above the virtual knobs. This will open the channel's plug-in drop-down menu. Scroll down the list of software instruments and select "Ultrabeat."
Notice the voice buttons on the left side of the Ultrabeat window. These are the virtual blue buttons to which individual drum sounds can be assigned. Select one of the voice buttons, hold the Command key followed by clicking your mouse or track pad. Scroll down and select the "Init" drop-down menu. Click on the "Sample" option in the menu.
Locate the "OSC 2" section of Ultrabeat situated near the lower-left corner of the screen. Click on the red arrow and select "Load Sample." Navigate your hard drive with the search window provided to find your drum sample file. It needs to be a WAV file to be used in Ultrabeat. Select the file and click on the "Open" button to assign the sample to the voice button.
Repeat steps 4 through 6 to assign drum samples to other voice buttons in Ultrabeat.
