How to Mix Bits & Pieces of Songs Into One

Mixing bits and pieces of songs Into one combined music track is a matter of combining several stereo mixes. The main element to combine song segments is through the use of alternate lowering and raising of volume called "cross-fades," or with rhythmic breaks. The general sense of stereo separation is maintained, but a good music bed is in the ears of the person producing the track.

Instructions

    • 1

Map out the mix. Allot two mixing channels to each song snippet to retain the stereo effect of its mix.

    • 2

Assemble or locate all the bits and pieces of the song segments you plan to compile into one final song or music track or file.

    • 3

Position each first channel far left and the second channel far right for each song segment included in the final mix.

    • 4

Set the volumes of all song segments according to levels that are pleasing to you.

    • 5

Add audio effects to as many channels as you want. This mainly consists of cross-fades, lowering the volume of one song segment as you raise the volume of another, as one song segment segues into the other.

    • 6

Make a final stereo mix once the bits and pieces on songs are balanced and blended as you want them. Burn or save a final 2-channel stereo version to CD or save the final mix to a hard drive. Save the music in one of the popular digital formats you prefer.
