Casio BOSS Instructions

The Casio BOSS is a multi-purpose personal digital assistant. It keeps track of contact information, appointments, meetings, and notes. The BOSS also contans applications such as a calendar, calculator, and expense reports. You access most of the BOSS's functions by pressing a specific function key located on the unit's keyboard and each application thereafter by pressing the general "FUNC" and "SHIFT FUNC" keys and selecting options from an on-screen list.

Instructions

      Remove the screw that fastens the BOSS's battery compartment. Slide the compartment cover off, load two AA batteries, and return the compartment and fastening screw to their original positions.

      Depress the "RESET" button on the bottom of the BOSS unit with a thin, pointed object such as the tip of the pen. The unit will ask if you are setting up the BOSS for the first time. Press the "Y" key to confirm and press "OK" to set up the unit for operation.

      Press the "FUNC" key to set the time and date. Scroll through the list of time zones and press "OK" when you have highlighted your time zone. Then select "Time set" and type in the numbers that correspond to the year, month, day, hour, and minute in the appropriate box. If you are in a time zone that uses a.m./p.m. time, specify "A" for a.m. or "P" for p.m. Press "OK" when you are done.

      Press the "LIGHT" key to turn on the electro-luminescent backlight, if necessary.

      Press "FUNC" and choose "Daily Alarm Set" to set an alarm that goes off at a specific time once per day. Input the alarm time using the keyboard and press "OK" when done.

      Press "TEL" to view your telephone directory. From the telephone directory you can view all directory records that are contained in your BOSS. Press "FUNC" from the directory scren to access options that allow you to change the title of the directory and change the information contained in each directory record.

      Press "MEMO" to enter memo mode. Begin typing to record a memo and press "OK" when the record is complete. Press the "MEMO" key again to start a new memo. Press the "FUNC"" button to change the title of your memo.

      Press "CALENDAR" to enter calendar mode. In this mode you can view monthly calendars ranging from January 1901 through December 2009. You can use the "FUNC" key to search for a date and you can press the "SPACE" key to highlight or unhighlight a date on the calendar. You may also press the "DISP CHNG" key to switch to a weekly calendar view.

      Press "REMINDER" to schedule events in your calendar. Press the "FUNC" key to navigate to the date on which you wish to schedule an event, and then begin inputting information about the appointment using your keyboard. Press "FUNC" to change the title of your appointment and press "OK" to save. You may also press the "DISP CHNG" key to view schedules on an hourly basis.

      Password-protect your BOSS by pressing "SHIFT FUNC" and selecting "Password". You may set a system password of up to six characters.
