For people unable to drive or walk for an adequate distance to get around, a power scooter is a versatile mode of transortation that's relatively easy to use. Invacare is manufacturer and supplier of home health care equipment including power scooters to improve mobility. These scooters come in micro, medium and heavy-duty models. Invacare scooters can be controlled with hand brakes and air foot pedals.

      Carefully read the manufacturer's instructions for your Invacare power scooter. The salesperson should also demonstrate how to use the scooter. Ask questions if you're uncertain and try driving the power scooter yourself before purchasing.

      Sit on the Invacare power scooter with your knees bent and your feet pointed forward in front of you. Grip the handlebar with both hands, with your palms and thumbs resting on the hand brakes. Switch the hand clutch forward to go in a forward direction.

      Place one foot lightly on the air hydraulic press pedal. Rest the other foot on the foot rest at the front of the power scooter.

      Gently press down on the air pedal to drive the scooter power in the forward direction. You don't need to put much force on your leg or foot as the hydraulic press in the pedal will power the scooter.
