Streaming TV on Your PC

Most of us only have one TV set in a room. This usually limits us to watching only one program at a time--which can be incredibly frustrating, especially for a sports fan. What can you possibly do if there are two football games on at the same time? Luckily, there are numerous ways to stream live TV broadcasts on your computer. That way, you can watch two shows at once, all for free.

Instructions

  1. Using the TVU Player

    • 1

Log onto the TVU Networks website. (See the link in Resources.)

    • 2

Click the green “Download” tab on the home page.

    • 3

Choose the “Download” option for the newest version of TVU. This is the software program you will use to stream TV on your PC.

    • 4

Download and install the TVU Player.

    • 5

      Open the TVU Player.

    • 6

Use the tabs at the top of the TVU Player to choose a category of streaming TV channels. You can select categories such as “Movies,” “News” and “Sports.” Once you click on a category, a list of streaming channels will appear on the left side of the TVU Player.

    • 7

Click on a channel in the list to the left of the TVU Player. A short advertisement will run. Once the ad has finished, your station will begin to load. After about 30 seconds, the channel will begin streaming in the media player.

    Using Channel Surfing

    • 8

Visit the Channel Surfing website. (See the link in Resources.)

    • 9

Scroll to the bottom to see links for different TV stations. You will find dozens of different channels, such as Fox News, USA Network and ESPN. There will also be links for live sporting events occurring on that particular day. For example, if you log onto Channel Surfing on a Sunday afternoon during the NFL season, you will see a link for each NFL game.

    • 10

Click on the link for the channel you want to stream on your PC. A new web page with a media player will open.

    • 11

Click the “Play” button on the media player if your channel doesn't automatically begin streaming. When you're finished watching, simply close the window to end the stream.
