Instructions

  1. Connect Using Audio Input Jacks

    • 1

Obtain an RCA connector from an electronics store. This cable is used to connect audio and video devices to other types of electronics, including TVs.

    • 2

Examine the plug heads of the RCA connector. In most cases, you will find three: one yellow, one white and one red. Typically the red and white plugs are used for audio signals.

    • 3

Locate the red and white audio/video jacks on your CD player. Usually, these jacks are located on the back of a CD player, but you may find them on the side or front of some models.

    • 4

Plug the red and white RCA connector plugs from one end of the connector into the red and white RCA jacks on your CD player. Plug the red and white plugs on the other end into the red and white input jacks on your TV.

    • 5

Power your television and the CD player connected to it.

    • 6

Use your remote control to select the input jacks to which your CD player is connected. Some TVs have multiple input jacks and require you to choose. If your TV does not feature multiple input jacks, skip this step.

    • 7

Insert a CD in your CD player and press play. If you connected the CD player correctly, you should hear the audio coming from your TV's attached or built-in speakers.

Connect a CD Player Without Audio Inputs

    • 8

Purchase an RCA connector that has red, white and yellow plug heads at the end.

    • 9

Obtain an RF modulator from a department or electronics shop. This looks like a little box and makes it easy to connect audio/video devices to older TVs that lack audio/video inputs.

    • 10

Use a coaxial cable to connect an RF modulator to your TV. Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the cable in/antenna jack at the back of your TV and the other end to the TV output jack of the RF modulator.

    • 11

Select channel 3 or 4 on the RF modulator. This is the channel on which you will listen to CDs.

    • 12

Plug the red and white plugs at one end of the RCA connector into the red and white jacks on the CD player.

    • 13

Connect the red and white plugs at the opposite end of the RCA cable to the red and white jacks on the RF modulator.

    • 14

Plug the RF modulator into an electrical outlet, and power the TV and the CD player.

    • 15

Switch your television to channel 3 or 4. Choose the same channel to which you set your RF modulator for this.

    • 16

Place a CD in the CD player and hit play.
