Feel the basic rhythm of the music. Beginning dancers can get a feel for when to move by bending your knees slightly to the beat of the music.
Roll your toe out first, beginning by stepping up onto the ball of your foot and shifting your weight around the edge of your foot from inside to outside.
Bend your knees slightly and allow your knees to follow the motion that you started in your feet. Allow the bend in your knees to increase and decrease as you move, creating the illusion that your legs are moving flexibly like rubber.
Allow your hip to follow the motion up from your toes and knees. When you circle your hips out to follow the leg motion, pop your hip out all the way, emphasizing your hip placement as much as possible.
Complete the circular motion moving both outward from the inside of the body and returning inward, back and forth.
