Nashville Comedy Clubs

Nashville may be known as the home of the Grand Ole Opry, but it also hosts a few top notch comedy clubs frequented by nationally known comics. Nashville is home to an up-and-coming community of stand-ups represented by Nashville Stand Up, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging local comics.
  1. Bar Car

    • Bar Car is among the active night spots in the Cummins Station district. When they are not hosting dance parties into the early morning, Bar Car boasts the longest running open mic in Tennessee every Tuesday night. Bar Car is the perfect venue for aspiring comics just starting out in the business. The club includes a spacious outdoor patio overlooking the railroad tracks.

    • If you want to see well known comics whose open mic days are long past, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (the locals shorten the name to TPAC) has hosted some of the greats, from Jerry Seinfeld to Larry the Cable Guy. TPAC is not exclusively a comedy club. It's a gorgeous, mid-sized theater located near the state capital in downtown Nashville. Be sure to get your tickets early if you hope to get seats for the next well-known act.
