Comedy Clubs in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is famous for its beer, brewery tours, cheese and bratwurst. There is plenty to do and see in this midwestern city that involves each one of these things. However, you don't often hear about the other activities that make Milwaukee a fun and happening city. These activities and attractions include the city's comedy clubs. Milwaukee is home to a variety of bars and nightspots, and it has three highly rated comedy clubs in or near the downtown area.

  1. ComedySportz

    • ComedySportz, located near downtown Milwaukee, is an improv comedy club. The performers and comedians make up their jokes as they perform. They use audience suggestions as inspiration, so you know it is definitely improvised comedy. ComedySportz also features comedy matches, in which new improvisational teams are assembled. Each team performs, gaining points for the most laughs and funniest jokes. There is even a referee, who can call "fouls." ComedySports considers its shows "clean comedy," so guests of all ages are welcome for all shows except the midnight show. This comedy club also features a full menu, including extra special desserts such as Deep Fried Candy Bars and Deep Fried Twinkies.

    Jokerz Comedy Club

    • Jokerz Comedy Club is just outside of downtown Milwaukee. Jokerz features acts by comedians who have performed on Showtime, MTV, HBO, Comedy Central and at various Las Vegas casinos. This is an adults-only comedy club. You must be 21 years old to enter, and there's a two drink minimum. If you are an adult who likes to go out for a few cocktails, Jokerz is ideal. There is a $10 entry fee, which covers your ticket for the show, unless otherwise specified. Jokerz also has a full menu of hamburgers, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches, and appetizers, as well as a full drink menu.

    JD's Comedy Cafe

    • JD's is located downtown, on Milwaukee's east side. From the outside, JD's Comedy Cafe looks small, but inside it is full of roomy seating a good view of the stage from every angle. JD's has been rated as one of the best comedy clubs in the United States and has headlined comedians such as Ellen DeGeneres, George Lopez, Drew Carey, Dave Chappelle, Pauly Shore and many other well-known names. This comedy club does not serve food, but they do feature a colorful full drink menu of frozen specialty drinks, martinis, coffees, wine and beer. You must be 21 to enter JD's Comedy Café, and shows play from Thursday to Saturday each week.
