The Comedy Works in Albany hosts many national acts monthly and has a two-drink minimum for visitors. The Comedy Works is part of a chain of venues with locations in Saratoga, Old Chatham and Schoharie, New York, Bennington, Vermont and Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Classes are available for aspiring comics and last for eight weeks with a graduation show during the final week. The Comedy Works also provides the chance for businesses to hire talent for various events for entertainment. College students in the Albany area also have the chance to apply for a Campus Team position with the Comedy Works for promotions involving the venue's shows and events.

The Egg Performance Art Center hosts national music and comedy acts on a weekly basis. Located close to the Albany Airport, the venue has been an Albany staple since 1978. The Egg provides entertainment for several demographics, making a typical night suitable for family or just adults. Designed by architect Wallace Harrison, the unique building houses two theaters: Kitty Carlisle Hart Theater and Lewis A. Swyer Theater. The Egg is open to volunteers to usher and take tickets for each event. Volunteers for security are also welcome to the venue.

The Palace Theatre in downtown Albany provides many different types of entertainment. The venue opened in 1931 and has lasted through years of entertainment and renovations to provide Albany with many types of shows. Aside from musical productions and concerts, nationally-recognized comedians and up-and-comers also frequent the venue. The Palace Theatre also takes volunteers and regularly hosts school programs.
