Comedy Clubs in Kansas City

When you are in the mood for a good laugh, Kansas City provides several opportunities. Kansas City is actually the name of two cities that are just minutes apart in two separate states, Kansas and Missouri. Whichever "Kansas City" you choose, you'll find plenty of entertainment options. Comedy clubs in Kansas City run the gamut from adults-only fare to family-friendly laughter. In addition, for those of you who have always dreamed of trying out your act in front of an audience, open mic nights are available in some comedy clubs.
  1. Stanford's Comedy Club

    • Stanford Glazer created Stanford's Comedy Club in 1975 and the club became famous in 1981 when Robin Williams agreed to work there for free. Many comedians have performed at Stanford's, including Rosanne, Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Pauly Shore, Damon Wayons and Lisa Lampanelli. Shows run Wednesday through Sunday and Open Mic Night is every Tuesday. The club can be rented out for private parties, corporate groups and special events.

    ComedyCity

    • ComedyCity is a family-friendly improvisational comedy show that combines suggestions from the audience into a one-of-a-kind performance every time. ComedyCity performs regularly at their club inside Westport Flea Market. You can also reserve the group for parties, conventions and church activities. ComedyCity offers workshops to hone your talents. For the mature adult, the group performs Chaos Theatre every Saturday at 10 p.m.

    Roving Imp Theater

    • The Roving Imp Theater is located in the Kansas City area, approximately 18 miles from the Kansas side of the city. The theater has 64 seats and appeals to both families and adults. Family shows are at 7 p.m every Friday and Saturday, and children 12 and under are free. Adult shows are on both nights beginning at 9 p.m. Improvisation is the key element to all of the shows and classes are held regularly for the budding actor or actress.
