Cincinnati Radio Stations

Cincinnati, Ohio is a Midwestern city on the Ohio River, near the Kentucky and Indiana borders. The Cincinnati metro area is home to approximately 60 radio stations, too many name in any detail. The best known Cincinnati radio stations are owned by Cincinnati Public Radio, and Cumulus Media.
  1. 90.9 WGUC

    • WGUC Cincinnati is a public radio station. WGUC plays mainly classical music rather than NPR shows. WGUC has been around since 1960 and used to receive funding from the University of Cincinnati (UC). In 1994, UC could no longer afford to support WGUC, and the station's license was bought by Cincinnati Public Radio.

    91.7 WVXU

    • WVXU Cincinnati is a public radio station that plays a variety of National Public Radio (NPR) shows as well as Cincinnati-based shows. WVXU was started in 1980 by Xavier University in Cincinnati and played mainly jazz music. Cincinnati Public Radio purchased the station's license in 2005 upon hearing that Xavier could no longer fund the station.

    92.5 WOFX

    • WOFX, nicknamed The Fox, is a commercial radio station owned by Cumulus media and plays classic rock songs. The Fox has been broadcasting since 1988 when it mainly played soft rock. Cumulus Media has owned the station since 2009.

    94.1 WNNF

    • This commercial station is know as Frequency 94.1. Until 2009, the station broadcasted as WVMX, at which point its license was purchased by Cumulus Media. WNNF plays an adult album alternative (AAA) format similar to album-oriented rock.

    96.5 WFTK

    • This Cincinnati station is known as 96 Rock and plays rock and alternative music. The station has been around since 1958 when it played instrumental music. Since then, it has been a Christian music station, a top-40 station and a classic rock station. The alternative rock format began in 2007 after the commercial radio station was bought by Cumulus Media.

    • WRRM, or Warm 98, is a Cincinnati commercial radio station that plays adult contemporary rock music such as Elton John and Rod Stewart. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and has been on the air since 1980.

    103.5 WGRR

    • WGRR is Cincinnati commercial radio station playing classic hits ranging from the 1960s onwards. WGRR was founded in the 1950s as WHOH and originally played instrumental music. The station then spent a number of years as a disco music station, before switching to a classic hits format in 1990. The station is owned by Cumulus Media.
