Underground Radio Stations in Miami

From Hip Hop to Reggae to Punk, most music styles are heard on Miami's underground radio stations which feature local talent that can't be found on commercial radio stations. Miami has always had a thriving music scene, with many festivals and concert venues. Local DJs create or spin on under-the-radar stations to promote themselves or local artists, and they are heard on the FM dial, websites or through social networks like MySpace.com.

    Island Flava FM

    • Island Flava is an underground Miami radio station that streams from its website islandflavafm.ning.com. Featuring Reggae and Hip Hop, the station thrives on local talent. The station promotes clubs and concerts. You can hear DJs like DJ Primetime and DJ OT.

    103.9 FM Da Grind

    • DJ Kosta's 103.9 FM Da Grind was a big operation that played Dance and Hip Hop. After airing well-known artists such as Trick Daddy and Jackie-O, the station gained popularity. DJ Kosta was on MySpace.com and promoting parties. In 2008, DJ Kosta was arrested and the station is on hiatus.
