How to Convert a Protected AAC Audio File to Wave

Downloading songs from iTunes has been a convenient way to build a music library for years, but there was always a catch. Until April 2009, any songs purchased from the ubiquitous digital music retailer came embedded with Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions limiting the use of the track. Despite this drawback, there is a way to convert protected Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) files purchased from iTunes into WAV or MP3 files in a matter of minutes.
