Press the "Pattern" key on the ES1.
Press the cursor button that points up.
Rotate the large dial to select a numbered pattern stored inside the ES1. You will see the different numbers appear on the large LED screen as your rotate the dial. Stop on any pattern you wish.
Press the "Play" button. The rhythm pattern begins playing.
Press "Stop" at any time to stop the audio playback, then rotate the dial and press "Play" to hear other rhythm patterns.
Play any rhythm pattern by selecting the pattern and pressing the "Play" button.
Press the cursor button that points down, while the rhythm plays, until you see "Tempo" displayed on the screen.
Rotate the dial to change how fast the rhythm pattern plays back.
Play any rhythm pattern.
Turn the knob on the ES1 labeled as "Pitch" to adjust the tone of the rhythm playback. You can make the rhythm play higher or lower in pitch.
Turn the filter knobs to adjust the timbre of the sound, or its "sharpness." These change the audio filter and affect which frequencies of the rhythm pattern are audible.
Plug in an external sound source, such as a synthesizer, guitar, CD player or other audio device. The ES1 lets you record rhythm patterns (called "sampling") from another source for playback like the internally stored patterns.
Press the "Sample" key.
Press the "Pattern" key while simultaneously pressing the "Rec" button.
Rotate the dial to select either the mono or stereo setting that is appropriate for your audio source.
Press the "Play" button and then start the audio on your external audio source. Press "Stop" when you are done recording. The sample is recorded. Press "Play" to play it back like any other rhythm pattern.
