How to Use Korg Triton USB PC

Instructions

  1. Connect Your Triton for File Transfer

    • 1

Connect the included USB "B" cable to your computer and to the Triton. The cable features a square connector on one side and a rectangular connector on the other side. The small, square end of the cable connects to the "USB B" port on the back of your Triton, indicated by the three-pointed USB symbol drawn directly above the port. The flatter, rectangular end of the cable connects to your computer's USB port.

    • 2

Double-click the "Triton Extreme" drive on your computer. When you plug in the USB cable, your computer recognizes the Triton's CompactFlash drive as an external hard drive. To access this drive using Windows, open the "My Computer" folder on your desktop and locate the drive inside the folder, among your other drives. To access this drive using a Mac, locate the rectangular white hard drive symbol on your desktop. Double-click the drive to open it and view your saved Triton data.

    • 3

Transfer your song data from your Triton drive to your computer's hard drive. Click any data file inside your Triton drive folder and drag it with your mouse onto your desktop, or into any folder on your computer to transfer the data. You can open and edit these data files using a digital audio recording program like Pro-Tools, Logic, Reason, Cubase, Cakewalk or ACID.

Connect Your Triton for MIDI Control

    • 4

Connect a five-pin MIDI cable to the "MIDI Out" jack on the back of your Triton Extreme, on the right side of the panel. Connect the opposing side of the cable to the "MIDI In" jack on the front of your MIDI-to-USB converter cable.

    • 5

Plug the USB connector on the converter cable into an available USB port on your computer. Your Triton now functions as a MIDI controller for you computer's music-editing software.

    • 6

Open a digital audio program that contains software instruments, such as Pro-Tools, Logic, Reason, Cubase, Cakewalk or ACID. Select a software instrument by navigating the program's MIDI options, and play your Triton keys to control the digital instrument. Your software instrument options typically appear with the program's individual tracks, or recording layers, which resemble long, empty horizontal spaces spanning from the top to the bottom of the program window, like a sheet of lined paper. Double-click any track name to see your options.
