Read the Zoom RT-223 user manual before making any connections or powering the unit. A good, basic understanding of how the RT-223 works may help you avoid mistakes or delays in setup or operation.
Make all connections between the RT-223 and external equipment. This may include headphones, an external mixer, powered speakers, a remote control foot switch or input from a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) device or other equipment. Check to ensure that the volume on all devices is adjusted to the lowest level.
Connect the RT-223 AC power adapter or install four AA batteries. Slide the RT-223 power switch to the "ON" position, then turn on all external equipment. While tapping any of the effect pads to produce a sound, adjust the volume on both the RT-223 and all external equipment.
Listen to the RT-223 demo song by pressing the "FUNCTION" key until it flashes, then press the "SONG" key to activate the demo. To stop the demo song, press either the "PATTERN" or "SONG" key.
Experiment with the RT-223 by pressing the "PATTERN" key, then the "DRUM" key. This assigns the library of drum sounds to the 13 programming pads. Press the "BASS" key to experiment with the RT-223 bass sounds.
Play a pattern by pressing the "PATTERN" key, then the "PLAY" key. To change the pattern, scroll though the pattern library by pressing the "+" or "-" keys.
