Roland's Fantom X7 measures 49 11/16 inches wide, 4 15/16 inches tall and 14 1/8 inches deep. The depth measurement is from front to back and the height is how high the unit stands up from the ground. The unit weighs 32 pounds.
The Fantom X7 has three different types of memory: temporary, rewritable and non-rewritable. The preset or non-rewritable memory has space for 1,152 patches, 40 different rhythm sets and 64 stored performances. In the user or rewritable memory section there is space for the user to store 256 patches, 2,000 sample patches, 32 rhythm sets and 64 performances. The user's memory can also be expanded by using a PC memory card, which provides space for an extra 256 patches, 32 rhythm sets and 64 performances, as well as room for another 7,000 sample patches.
The unit features many different options for effects. Three different types of chorus effect, five different types of reverb and six different types of input effects. The Fantom X7 also features a three-band compressor effect and three separate systems of multi-effects, featuring 78 types of effect.
The Fantom X7 has several jacks at the back of the unit for connecting to different devices. The keyboard has a headphone jack, and two 1/4-inch output jacks, which can be used to connect the unit to mixers and amplifiers. The unit also features two 1/4-inch input jacks, which can be used to connect instruments and microphones. The unit also has jacks for the optional hold pedal and the control pedal, as well as three MIDI connections, "Thru," "Out" and "In." The unit also has a USB input jack, which allows file transfer between the keyboard and a computer. The Fantom X7 also has a coaxial input and output. The final jack is for the AC power supply.
The X7 also has several additional features that can be used to control its operation. It has a pitch bend/modulation lever, four control knobs, two assignable switches and a D beam controller. The pitch bend/modulation level can be used to alter the pitch of a note that is played. The D beam controller allows you to add effects quickly and efficiently.
