The Digi002 is available in two different variants. The standard, and "Rack" versions. The standard version includes a control surface with transport buttons, a jog wheel and a series of faders that can be used to operate the ProTools mixer. The Rack version features the same connectivity ports and converter components but without the control surface. It can be fitted to a standard 19-inch studio rack mount, making for easy portability.
The Digi 002 features eight analog inputs and eight corresponding outputs. There are also a pair of ADAT and SPDIF inputs for connecting digital devices via optical cable. There is a MIDI in port, and a pair of MIDI outputs for connecting older data devices and inputs. The unit communicates with a system computer via a high-speed FireWire IEEE1394 data port.
All analog inputs and outputs are balanced for noise reduction. Inputs 1-4 are connected to an internal mic preamp, which can provide 48+ phantom power over 1/4-inch or XLR connections. An "Alt.Source" input allows playback devices such as CD players or DAT machines to be routed through the Digi 002, allowing for consistent monitoring across all the devices in a studio.
The Digi 002 can convert analog signals to digital ones, or vice-versa, at a variety of sampling rates. 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96kHz are all supported. the frequency response of the input and output channels is accurate to .15 and -0.5 dB within the 20Hz to 20kHz range.
