Professional CD booklets are not created with typical sheets of paper used in common personal printers. CD publishers use special matte and glossy paper. This paper is specially perforated, or divided, into sections for easy folding and insertion into CD jewel cases. People creating their own CDs at home may use standard printer paper if necessary.
A single page of a CD booklet measures 120.5 mm by 119.5 mm, or 4.75 inches by 4.7 inches. This CD booklet size fits one single sheet, with printing on the front and back, into the booklet area in a CD jewel case. A booklet with multiple pages must measure double the width when folded out. This measurement equals 247 mm by 119.5 mm, or 9.72 inches by 4.7 inches.
CD publishers print multiple page booklets with blank marginal space at the top, bottom, and sides. The blank margin space cuts off no content published inside the booklet after folding or stapling. The blank margin space measures 3 mm, or .12 inches, on the sides and 10.16 mm, or .4 inches, on the top and bottom.
CD publishers create booklets as both single and multiple pages. Multiple page booklets hold anywhere from four to 28 pages depending on how much content a publisher intends on including. A folded CD booklet should not measure more than 2.3 mm, or .09 inches, thick.
