Find a reference photo of Shaggy 2 Dope online and print it out. Tape the reference beside your mirror so that you can refer to it constantly while painting your face. Without some type of reference, the face painting may not look exactly like that of Shaggy 2 Dope's unless you are very familar with the shapes. If you do not have a photo, the Shaggy 2 Dope face paint design has a total of four separate shapes. There are two shapes on the forehead that appear like an "S" turned 90 degrees counterclockwise (on the left side of the forehead) and clockwise (on the right). There is a circle on the nose area, and shape that resembles a beard stretching from cheek to cheek on the face.
Study the black shapes on Shaggy 2 Dope's face to get an idea of their locations. The forehead "s" shapes are on the left and right sides of the forehead, and stretch to the center, but do not touch. Begin painting the outlines of the "s" shapes on your own face with a brush loaded with black face paint. Use light strokes to create the outlines for all shapes. Painting a sideways "S" is the best description of what the shape should look like. Take care to make sure the outlines of the shapes are crisp. This will prevent it from bleeding into the white makeup added later. Fill in the "S" shapes by starting with the thin points. Keep your brush pressure light, using only the tip when painting the points. Press down harder with the brush as you move into the wider areas of black. This thin to thick brush method will allow you to create "S" shapes that are sharp and opaque.
Paint the nose shape by moving a brush loaded with black paint in a circular motion on your nose. Paint the outline of the beard shape by following the cheek bone's curvature, and then down to the top of the lips. Do the same thing on the other side of the face. Paint the outline of the bottom of the beard shape using the top of the chin and bottom of the lips as a guide. Paint a half-circle shape onto the chin area extending out from the beard's bottom outline. The entire beard shape should resemble a "V" that has been stretched out to conform to the face. Fill in the black shapes with broad strokes of the brush, applying black over the entire area so that the shape is opaque. Use lighter touches of the brush to fill in the two point areas protruding from the beard, below each cheek.
Add white face paint into the areas around the black using a clean brush and following the pattern of Shaggy 2 Dope's face. Be careful not to enter the black areas to prevent any mixture of the two colors.
