    • 1

Put on your costume top before painting your face. Trying to put a shirt or top on while your face is freshly painted may ruin your work.

    • 2

Wash your face and pat dry. Applying paint to a clean face is better for your complexion and healthier for your skin.

    • 3

Use the image of "The Boogeyman" in the Resource section as a guide, and paint your entire face red with a medium-sized brush.

    • 4

Allow the red paint to dry before applying the black details. Starting near the upper bridge of your nose, paint a black outline over your eyebrows and sweep upward toward your temple. End the outline at the upper corner of your hairline.

    • 5

Start from your hairline and draw a swooping line that touches the top of your cheek and gradually connects to the line you started at the bridge of your nose. Repeat this step for the other side of your face.

    • 6

Add the black dots and splotches that cover The Boogeyman's face with your small detail brush. Take your time and vary the size of the splotches for a unique and surrealistic look. Add black paint to the outsides of your lips.

Allow the paint to dry and add any other elements of your costume (i.e., fake teeth or hair accessories).
