Make sure there is an electrical outlet near your face painting station, as you will need electricity to power your airbrush and air compressor. Plug in and set up your station.
Mix an alcohol based additive like Kryolan's Fixier Spray or Ben Nye's Final Seal into your makeup for added sweat resistance, especially in hot weather conditions.
Affix the stencil you plan to use over the face you are painting. Put on your face mask to avoid breathing in the fumes from the paint.
Airbrush a layer of paint over the stencil. Switch up colors as necessary and shade in the design for a realistic effect. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and nose.
Remove the stencil to inspect your design. Touch up any areas that need work or extra shading.
Clean your airbrush by spraying rubbing alcohol through the chamber. Do not spray directly in the face or inhale the mist.
Practicing airbrush makeup and face painting with stencils will help you improve your skills so you can eventually paint freehand.
