As a student at Ovations Dance Studio in Westmont, you can try classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, acrobatics, tap and lyrical. You might supplement your dance training with a mat-based Pilates class. In addition to ballroom dance styles such as the tango, cha-cha and foxtrot, you can try lessons in hip-hop, R&B line dance and belly dancing. Though most classes are geared toward adults, a children's salsa class allows children to learn the basic body movements and footwork of Latin dance. The studio's teachers also offer private instruction upon request.
The official school of Atlantic City Ballet, this academy trains pre-professional dancers as well as students who wish to dance for fitness or recreation. In addition to lessons in classical ballet, you can take jazz, partnering, body conditioning and music classes at the school. Young students can audition to perform in Atlantic City Ballet's annual production of "The Nutcracker." All students perform at the academy's end-of-year performance in June.
