Dancing Schools in Minneapolis

Dancing schools in Minneapolis offer everything from career-focused ballet and modern dance to ethnic dancing and social dancing for young people. The city's two ballet companies have respected schools training the ballet and contemporary dancers of the future. At the same time, there is a good choice of dance and movement classes for young people and adult amateurs.
  1. Young Dance

    • With the slogan "Transforming lives through movement," Young Dance announces its intention of helping young people build their minds and bodies "through the creative art of dance." The company's Community Dance Classes-- in creative movement, modern dance and ballet--are offered to boys and girls ages 1 to 18. "Adaptive" dance classes are specifically for young people with impaired mobility. The classes are open to all and structured so that students can start at any time.
Admission to the organization's Young Dance Company, made up of 35 boys and girls, is by audition. The group studies modern dance, works with professional dancers and holds public performances in the Minneapolis area. Scholarships are available for both the open classes and the Young Dance Company.
