Samples are labeled with a small label that reads "sample" in the left hand margin of your Kindle home screen. On the Amazon store, a Kindle title often has a link that reads "Send sample now" underneath the links to purchase the title. Once you click the sample link, the title will be sent to your Kindle. You must be connected to the Internet in order for your sample to download to your Kindle.
Your Kindle home screen can be organized along many parameters. You can sort books by title, author, collections and most recent first. Title and author organizations are efficient ways of quickly organizing your books, but some books do not have properly formatted identification tags. Hence, title and author organization methods can result in some mistakes. The "most recent titles first" option places the titles you most recently accessed at the top of your home screen. Finally, the collections method creates custom folders on your home screen, into which you can put any number of books.
Collections help you organize your Kindle library by any custom parameters, such as subject, date published and genre. Ultimately, you can name a collection whatever you want. However, if you organize your Kindle by collections, name them in useful ways. For example, it can be useful to create collections based on the names of authors. To create a collection, navigate to your Kindle home screen and select the menu option labeled "Create New Collection." To add items to a collection, select that collection and use the menu function "Add/Remove Items" within the collection. You can add samples to your collection in this way, just as any other book. Your collections will be organized on your home screen with the most recently accessed collection at the top. Within the collection, the most recently accessed title will be at the top.
If you wish to purchase the complete text from which a sample is taken, you can do so from within the sample. Each sample text has a page at the end that gives you the option to purchase the full book. If you purchase the complete version of a title, it will not be delivered directly into the same collection as the sample. They are different files, and you must sort each one into a collection manually.
