Purchase tickets. Tickets to the de Young Museum are available at the museum's box office and online via their website. Discounts are offered for those 65 and older and those between 13 and 17 years of age. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. The de Young Museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and closed New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, everyone is admitted free of charge on the first Tuesday of each month.
View the collection. The deYoung Museum's permanent collection is divided into seven sections: American paintings, American decorative arts and sculpture, Oceanic art, the Jolika Collection of New Guinean Art, African art, textiles, the Dorothy and George Saxe Collection of Contemporary Art and Art of the Americas. The museum augments its permanent collection with regularly scheduled temporary exhibits.
Have lunch at the cafe. The cafe at the deYoung Museum serves food grown exclusively in the Bay area. The eatery overlooks the museum's sculpture garden and serves a variety of luncheon entrees, salads and snacks.
