How to Add Searches to Opera Toolbars

Opera shares many features found in Internet Explorer, Firefox and other major browsers. Opera supports tabs, you can install add-ons and it has search capabilities. For example, if you want to search Google for recipes, enter that word in Opera's search box, and the browser will forward the query to Google. You can place additional search boxes on Opera's tool bar by adding them to the browser, and then moving them to the tool bar.

Instructions

  1. Add Searches to Opera

    • 1

      Launch Opera.

    • 2

Visit a website that has a search box. For example, you might visit Bing.com, Metacrawler.com or Dogpile.com.

    • 3

Right-click anywhere inside the search box. Opera will display a drop-down menu.

    • 4

Click "Create Search." A pop-up window will prompt you for a name for the search.

    • 5

Type a short, descriptive name in the "Name" for the search in the search box. Choosing something meaningful will help you recognize the search later when it appears on the toolbar.

    • 6

Type a short keyword in the "Keyword" text box. This can be any short word or series of letters that you like. Click "OK."
