How to Uninstall Flash in Opera

Flash can be both a nuisance and a security risk, slowing down your Web browser and displaying annoying advertisements with both animation and speech. Because plug-ins such as Flash are installed systemwide, they cannot be uninstalled for just a single browser such as Opera. Instead, using Opera's Preferences menu, you can disable the Flash plug-in and, even better, control which Flash videos play. This advanced control gives you both added security and the freedom to quickly load websites with Flash content.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch "Opera." Click the "Menu" button in the upper left, highlight "Settings" and then click "Preferences." Optionally, press the "Ctrl" and "F12" keys simultaneously.

    • 2

Click the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Content" option on the left.

    • 3

Click "Enable Plug-ins Only on Demand" to enable optional plug-in running, or click "Disable Plug-ins" to completely disable the plug-ins in your browser.
