Comedy Clubs in Albany

The capital city of Albany “looks like history, feels like a vacation,” according to the city’s website. First settled in 1624 and named the capital of new York state in 1797, Albany offers visitors the chance to tour historic homes, churches and other sites. Other popular tourist attractions include the Albany Aqua Ducks and Trolleys, a planetarium and the USS Slater, a World War II battleship.       The Comedy Works in Albany has five sibling clubs in New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. Two comics and a host are featured weekly and shows start at 9:00 p.m. on scheduled nights. Advance ticket sales are offered at a discount for those planning a visit to Albany. Enjoy a full menu during the show with dishes such as the Laugh Out Loud Burger and chicken wings. Quarterly classes are taught at Comedy Works for aspiring comics and a graduation show is held at the end of each eight-week session.     Palace Theater

    • The Palace Theater is a historic building originally opened in 1931 featuring films and vaudeville acts. The building received a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and extensive renovations were completed in 2003. The Palace Theater is now “the premier entertainment destination in the Capital Region,” according to the theater’s website. Musical acts, Broadway plays, and classic movies are regular features at the Palace. Famous comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld play often at the Palace and up-and-coming comics are also featured in events such as “Comedy Battle of the Sexes.” Located in downtown Albany, several dining options are available in close proximity to the theater to enjoy before or after a comedy show.

    Lark Tavern
