Open the Camtasia program by double-clicking Camtasia Studio icon. This can be found on your desktop, on the start up menu or under "all programs" on the start up menu.
Click on the circle to the left of "Start a new project by importing media files" on the window in the center of the screen. Click "Ok" and a window will appear with files to open. If the Karaoke song is already saved on the PC or Laptop, select the file folder that it is in and double-click on the Karaoke song that needs to be edited. If it is not yet saved to the PC or laptop and it is on a CD, insert the CD and rip the song from the CD using Windows Media Player or iTunes. When the CD is inserted, a window will appear asking you "What do you want to do? To rip the song, click "rip music from CD using Windows Media " or "Import Songs Using Itunes" from the menu. Once the song is ripped to the library of the program that is chosen, go back to the beginning of Step 2.
Right click on the song's icon that is located in the "Clips Bin". Scroll the mouse cursor down to "Add to Timeline". The song will appear on the bottom of the screen next to the "Audio 2" Label.
Look for the green downward facing triangle on the timeline above the labels "video" and "Audio 1." Move the mouse along the timeline and click on the starting point of the section that needs to be edited. Hold the mouse down and move to the right to the end of the section that is being edited.
Click on the play button that is located on the upper right hand side of the video window to play the section and make sure it is the part that needs to be edited. To delete the selection, click on the scissors icon on the toolbar. Also on the toolbar are diagonal arrows. The diagonal arrow pointing up and to the right is to fade in, and the other pointing down and to the right is to fade out. To increase or decrease volume, click on the arrows pointing straight up and straight down. Up is to increase and down to decrease volume.
