Turn on your video camera and put it in "Tape Playback" mode.
Connect the video camera to your computer using a DV or USB 2.0 connector.
Open the MotionDV Studio by going to "Start," "All Programs," "Programs," "Panasonic" and "MotionDV Studio LE for DV."
Click on "Editing Directly," then when the editing window opens, click on the "Edit Assistant" icon on the left menu panel. The "Edit Assistant" will allow you to capture and edit videos automatically.
Capture video from a tape. Click "Device Input DV," which is an option after you click on "Edit Assistant." Click on the "Play" button icon, which will show a preview of the video from tape. Click on "Capture" to start capturing your video from tape. The capturing status window shows the "Imported Length" (display of the captured video) and the "Available Recording Time" (remaining video recording time based on available space on your computer).
Click on "Quit" to stop capturing video from tape. Click on "Stop," which stops the video player.
Start editing the video
Click "Edit" under the "Tool Box" menu on the left panel of your MotionDV Studio screen.
Click "Add to Edit Track." This will send the video clip to the back end of the edit track.
Cut the unnecessary parts. Click on the "Play" and "Pause" buttons at the start of the part you want to cut. This will pause the video play.
Click the "Divide" button. This will divide the clip into two at the point of the current bar. Click the "Play" and "Pause" buttons to the part you want it to end. Then click "Divide" again.
Select a clip that you want to remove by clicking on it, then select "Edit" and then "Delete" from the drop-down menu.
Right-click on the clip to add title or caption, then select "Title Editor."
Click on the location you want to enter the text.
Enter the text or title.
Click "File" then "Save."
Close the window and the text editor will disappear.
Click on "OK" to save the effects.
Right-click on the "T" in front of the scene you want to add a transition effect on, then select "Create Transition."
Set the transition effects parameters in the transition effects screen. There are several choices of effects. Click on the icon of your choice on the left side of the screen under "Transition Pattern." You can click on the bottom box that says "Reverse Transition," which reverses the action of each pattern choice.
Adjust the slider under the "Transition Time" to set the time between each transition.
Adjust the slider under "Boundary" to adjust the width and the color of each frame.
View the effects in the "Preview" screen and make adjustments as necessary.
Click on "OK" to save the effects.
Click on the "Output" icon under the "Tool Box" menu and choose the "File Output" icon.
Specify the file name and the output destination. For example, if the file name is "movie1234.avi", choose format "AVI Format."
Click on "File Output" to begin output.
Double-click on the output icon on the output file. This will play the video in AVI format using Windows Media Player.
Play, pause, fast forward or rewind the video using the Windows Media Player.
Click the MotionDV Studio Icon on the tool box to exit the MotionDV Studio editing window.
