To use the Mbox 2 Mini interface, you must make sure your computer's operating system is compatible. The Mbox 2 Mini works with the 32-bit Windows Vista Business and Ultimate versions. You can also run the Mbox 2 Mini on computers with any version of the Windows XP or Windows 7 operating systems. For Macintosh owners, make sure your computer has at least the Mac OS X 10.5 operating system.
For the Mbox 2 Mini to run smoothly, your computer system must meet certain processing requirements. If you are running the Windows XP operating system, make sure your processor is an Intel Pentium 4, Centrino, AMD Athlon or Core Duo to ensure the audio interface will work. If your computer has the Macintosh operating system, you must have a G5 processor, a G4 processor with at least 933 MHz or an Intel processor.
Since the Mbox 2 Mini takes up a sizable amount of space and virtual memory to install and run, a computer must be ready for the task. To smoothly run the Mbox 2 Mini, you should have at least 768 megabytes of RAM installed on your computer, though at least 1.0 gigabytes is preferred.
There are a few other features your computer must have to use the Mbox 2 Mini. Make sure you have DVD playback capabilities, as the installation disc for the Mbox 2 Mini will not work otherwise. You must also have a USB port to connect the device. Since the Mbox 2 Mini is designed by Digidesign to work exclusively with Pro Tools recording and editing software, you must also have Pro Tools. Any standard, LE or M-Powered version of Pro Tools works with the Mbox 2 Mini.
