How to Update SONAR LE

SONAR LE is Cakewalk's sample version of its full-featured Digital Audio Workstation software. It receives wide distribution with Cakewalk's hardware partners, bundled in various packages to give new users a chance to explore the intuitive layout that has earned SONAR its devoted followers. Unlike many light versions of full packages, SONAR LE offers 32 audio and 64 MIDI, which is enough to handle all but the largest projects.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify your version of SONAR LE. From the toolbar, click on "Help" and then select "About SONAR LE" from the drop-down menu. Your version number will appear on the screen that appears. The current version of LE is available through Cakewalk's online store for a fraction of the cost of their full versions (see Resources.)

    • 2

Register your current version of SONAR LE, if you have not done so. Registration may make you eligible for upgrade discounts to regular products that are within your budget.

    • 3

Check Cakewalk's OEM partners (see References) if you are considering a hardware upgrade. Check with a partner manufacturer to determine if they are offering an updated version of SONAR LE with the hardware you wish to purchase.

Run the setup program by selecting "setup.exe" from your download or distribution disk. Follow the on-screen instructions if prompted. Upon installation, start the program and click on "Options" on the toolbar. From the drop-down menu, select "MIDI Devices" and "Audio" to set up the interfaces specific to your computer.
