How to Make a Virtual Mix Tape

Before the Internet allowed for music to be shared rampantly between many people, creating a mix tape was much more laborious -- whether you recorded songs off the radio with your cassette player or burned a list of songs to a CD. It is now possible to create your own virtual mix tape, through which you can upload your favorite songs to a list and share them with friends on the Internet. With virtual mix tapes, you can also garner an instant reaction from friends who are also connected to the Internet, instead of shipping a CD or cassette and waiting for a response.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for and log in to an online mix tape sharing site.

    • 2

Upload music saved on your computer to the playlist on the site. Some services also have a database of music that you can search through and upload onto your playlist, although they may come with a price per song.

    • 3

Publish the playlist on your user page, or share it via email. Upload your playlist to social networking sites you use, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or StumbleUpon. You can also use an embed code to publish the playlist on your website. Keep in mind that if you uploaded any copyrighted songs to your playlist, other users may not be able to listen to the full songs until they purchase them.
